The Museum of Science and Industry, Manchester. Location of a very good conference on Industrial Archaeology this week (Reviving Places by reusing Industrial Heritage). The museum itself is well worth a visit. It is located in a number of former industrial buildings including the terminus of the worlds first inter city railway. This sketch is from the coffee shop beside the entrance looking towards the ‘air and space hall’ housed in a former market hall (Lower Campfield Market) built of cast iron wood and glass and dating from 1882. To the right is the former St Mathews Sunday School of 1827, now in use as a private office.
