The creative City: The twenty-First Century

The twenty-first century  has seen a developing confidence in the city as it has sought to realise the  advantages  of peace. Investment has been put into tourist infrastructure with  a string of  museums developed around the City Walls, and the conservation of  prominent historic  buildings.

Modern interventions have complemented this heritage in the central area. This left the city well placed to celebrate its year as 'City of Culture' in 2013.
